Skills and experience:

Based in Blenheim, Stuart moved to Marlborough in 2006 after completing a Bachelor of Science at Otago University, followed by a Post Graduate Diploma in Viticulture and Oenology at Lincoln University.

Working with two of New Zealand’s leading wine companies Delegat (Oyster Bay) and most recently as the South Island Viticulturist for Villa Maria Wines, he has developed extensive knowledge of both corporate and grower based viticulture.

In 2010 Stuart won both the National Young Viticulturist and Young Horticulturist of the Year awards. Stuart has been a part of numerous industry events as a speaker, and involved in various research groups over the years.

A Director on the board for Wine Marlborough for 6 years (2014-2020), with the last 3 years as Deputy Chair, he has good understanding of wider industry challenges and opportunities.

Stuart is as comfortable out in the vineyards working directly with growers improving finer details, as he is working with management and governance teams on broader strategy.
